Ever since the recent spy photos have caught the prototype of the new 2020 Ford Kuga during its testing session, the fans have been wondering when this popular crossover, also known as the Escape in the US, will hit the market. Although wearing some heavy camouflage, it seems that some of the changes and improvements will be huge and that the new Kuga/Escape has been on its way to appear as a 2020 model.
- a brand-new platform
- improved design
- possible plug-in hybrid version.
- small infotainment screen.
When it comes to exterior of the 2020 Ford Kuga, this popular crossover has mostly been compared to the latest Ford Focus and its next-generation design. Apparently, these two models share a lot of styling features, such as headlights, but also that innovative C2 modular platform that will be lighter in weight. In fact, the C2 platform was first seen on the 2019 Focus. However, larger dimensions of the 2020 Kuga are probably the first thing that the fans will notice. Namely, the new Kuga will be significantly bigger than its predecessor, but the spy photos can’t reveal whether we should expect the third row or possibly just a bigger cargo area. Its longer and wider wheelbase will definitely provide more space inside its cabin for you and your passengers.
Inside the 2020 Ford Kuga, features and overall design can once again be compared to some other Ford’s models. However, its cabin seems mostly Focus-inspired. Due to its larger dimensions that we have already mentioned, there will be plenty of headroom and legroom for its passengers. Also, the company will improve the materials and overall design and comfort. The dashboard will show some stylish and modern look with lots of high-tech updates, but it seems that the new Kuga will provide one of the smallest infotainment screens in its class. However, it will provide features and connectivity options such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB ports, Apple Car Play and Android Auto. The previous model has been known for its noisy cabin and lack of advanced safety technologies as standard so we hope that the upcoming Kuga will solve these problems successfully.
It seems that the 2020 Ford Kuga will stand next to its cousins Ford Mustang and Ford F-150 and offer its hybrid version as well. Ford has definitely decided to introduce more hybrids and plug-in hybrids in following years. Be that as it may, the regular Kuga should offer a 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter options under the hood while the plug-in hybrid could combine that 1.5-liter with an electric motor and hit more than 200 horsepower. Also, Ford might introduce an eight-speed automatic transmission. We are waiting for more information at the moment.
